The Research Center
The St. Helena Historical Society Research Center is a special repository of reference materials and primary resources focusing on St. Helena history. The center is staffed by a dedicated group of Historical Society volunteers who conduct research as well as maintain and care for the collection. Research requests are taken by phone or email. The Permanent Collection
Our Permanent Collection contains original photographs, archives, books and objects related to the history of the St. Helena community. The collection is cared for by collections volunteers who strive to maintain professional-caliber standards for the management, registration, care, and preservation of the collection. Because of these high standards, access to the collection is limited and available to researchers by appointment only.

The Research Collection
In addition to our Permanent Collection, we also have a growing Research Collection of subject files, books and other resources related to the history of the St. Helena community. Our research volunteers will be happy to take your research request. We provide 30 minutes of basic assistance– such as an orientation to library resources, direction to helpful websites and quick checks of names and properties– for free. We charge a fee for more extensive research.
